First Stage Program

Our First Stage Program welcomes pregnant women and mothers with at least one child under the age of one (Harmony House will also support children over the age of one; but our target demographic is infancy). We recognize that each individual carries their own story, shaped by both strengths and challenges. From the moment a new resident arrives, we take time to build meaningful, trusting relationships rooted in mutual respect and care.

Drawing from both Indigenous and Western ways of knowing—what we refer to as Two-Eyed Seeing—we walk alongside families as they shape their own healing journeys. Together, we co-create individualized wellness plans that honour each person’s cultural identity, lived experiences, and personal goals.

Residents participate in our in-house program Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. During this time, childminding is provided on-site, creating a safe and nurturing space for both parents and children. Participation in shared household responsibilities is encouraged as a way to build daily living skills and a sense of belonging in community.

We are a substance-free space that supports healing through abstinence from mind-altering substances. We understand this path may look different for everyone, and we meet each person where they are, with compassion and without judgment.

Residents may remain in First Stage housing for up to one year. When ready, they may transition into Second Stage Programming or take the next steps into independent community living, with continued support.

Community Rhythms & Expectations:

  • Curfew: 8:00 PM on weekdays; 9:00 PM on weekends and holidays

  • Shared Meals: Residents are asked to be home for lunch at 12:00 PM and dinner at 5:00 PM

We strive to create a home that is safe, welcoming, and grounded in both cultural and personal healing practices. Here, every voice matters, and every journey is honoured.
